Hoodie Hoo Day

March 20 is Northern Hemisphere Hoodie Hoo Day!

Founded by renowned holiday creators Thomas and Ruth Roy of Wellcat Holidays, this holiday was made to help chase away winter and usher in spring.

In the Northern Hemisphere, spring usually begins on March 20, but can start on March 19 or March 21. Thus, the holiday is celebrated about month before the end of winter. A Southern Hemisphere counterpart is celebrated on August 22, about a month before the start of spring in that hemisphere.

The day is celebrated by going outside at noon and yelling "hoodie-hoo". This is done to chase away winter and make way for spring. Although this holiday is specifically for those in the Northern Hemisphere, it can't hurt to go outside and yell "hoodie-hoo" if you live in the Southern Hemisphere as well. Although, if you help speed up the arrival of spring up north, you are only speeding up the arrival of cold weather in your own hemisphere!

As for most of us,we're sick of Winter. We have yet ANOTHER Major winter storm bearing down on us bringing 5-8" more snow

We are right in the middle of a 5-8" belt of snow

The snow wouldn't be so bad as long as the wind does blow it around a bunch.

Snowblowers are all gassed up and ready.

only 1 inch and ice. Not sure that is better. Weekend's storm is suppose to have wind. I'll keep an eye out for a blond in a drift if you blow this way

It's worth a try if it gets rid of winter! The Groundrodent didn't do us any favors!

We're getting wind up here making cleanup less tenable.

We have been getting slammed with bad weather here too. The last 2 days have been clear but cold. Our last storm we sent your direction but now we have another storm moving in today. We have lots of snow on the ground. They have chain controls between Reno and Sacramento and much of the time the highway has been closed. At one of the ski resorts a dead body was found in a snow bank of loose powder.

We've easily gotten 7-8" here last night and today. Our road is down to one lane and it's the trucks going through that has kept it open. I needed to run into town and drove the Navi and was glad I didn't meet anyone on the gravel. That ski resort death is a terrible tragedy .

If I didn't have to run into the dang bank to get some cash I sure the hell would not have gone. I am buying my guy in town a 4WD Ram pickup so he can get around to clean the driveways and sidewalks.

Living out in the Styx has it's advantages for cussing where there is no one to hear ya. The snow is up to our Rottweiler's belly forcing him to bound through the drifts. Our greyhound Does a leaping running dive through the crap. whereas the Great Pyrenees pays little attention to the snow and just prods on unaffected by the crap.
