TAKE A HIKE National Take a Hike Day is observed annually on November 17. With over 60,000 miles of trails in the National Trail System across the 50 states, there is no lack of opportunity to take a hike. Events around the country are scheduled today to celebrate Take a Hike Day. Hiking can burn between 400-550 calories per hour. What better way to get a head start on all those ‘other’ holiday temptations and observe Take a Hike Day? Be sure to wear good shoes, take a snack and bring a buddy, but get out there and enjoy the fresh air, scenery and get a little exercise to boot! |

Exercise is great for the body and the mind. Since open heart surgery and now foot neuropathy, I can't do much in the way of walking, or other forms of exercise. I miss it.

We have a walking and bike path a short distance of where Husband and I live. Sometimes we walk the dogs and other times we ride bicycles. We also have made a gym/dojo out of one of the spare bedrooms. We exercise and practice our karate in there. We have a 75 lb. heavy bag to punch and kick and some other equipment in there such as weights and a stationary bike and a treadmill for when the weather is to crappy to walk outside.

A brisk walk a few minutes working out to stay healthy and keep the blood flowing. Regrettably our Bowflex is more of a laundry hanger than exorcise equipment but that will change very soon after I get my back fixed so I may resume my old cardio routine without pain. Get my 6-pack back toned on the ab-lounger too.

One that I forgot is that I have women's aerobic and cardio videos that I do also. I put on tights, leotard and headband to do those. I do mostly women's exercises and ones that target my butt to keep it firm and uplifted. My estrogen regimen also helps keep my butt shaped. I do want to keep a womanly butt for my Husband.
