Astounding Odds.....

I'd dropped by my ever so friendly banker today to see if I could make a withdrawal from my account.

and he grudgingly handed over a few coins.....

When I got home I thought I'd pay a few more bills.

One bill, a nationally held credit card, I thought i'd pay over the phone......

****************

Enter the last 4 digits of your Social Security number ****

Enter the last 4 digits of your card number ****

Would you like to pay by your debit card on file?

yes....

Enter the 3 digit security number from the back of your debit card ***

Your current balance is $766.86 would you like to make the minimum payment of $21.89???

CLICK!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DON"T OWE NO $766 !!!!!!!!!!!!

So I spent the next 45 minutes on hold waiting for the next available operator .. only to be put on HOLD and shifted to another operator who put me on HOLD and sent me to another fucking operator! who could not believe that the system had not caught it or that I'd made it that far without "red flags" She seen that I only owed $21.36 and took my online check payment for the balance due.

I am seriously considering CHOPPING up the card!

To top that off our G** D** printer is NOT working !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have 2 letters that must be done and into the mail tomorrow.

I went up into the 140 degree attic and found an old typewriter. MANY years ago I played on my dad's typewriter... but I have never USED one!. I figured out how to get the paper in...... NO SPELL CHECK !!!!! Where is the number "1"???? What's that *DING*??? I am considering digging out a kerosene lamp to get the full taste of the 19th century!

About that typewriter---- use the lower case "L" for number one. That "ding" tells you that you need to advance the paper to continue typing.
I'm a bit surprised that I remember that info from the typing class I took a couple hundred years ago, LOL.
I bet you had to walk 5 miles \through a snake infested swamp to take those classes too!.. I have WABBED UP the first 3 fricking letters until I went into "office" where I typed it out and I am just going to copy it off on the typewriter.

Isn't it amazing how fast we forgot about the typewriter? It was a marvellous machine in its day. I still have one in the closet, and it does have spell check on it.

I can't imagine a world held together by a brigade of secretaries spending their days with their noses stuck to those machines! I would need to hire another full time person if I didn't have my computer at my disposal.

wish I had money to pay bills I hate to wait on the phone for any thing
I fully intend to write a scathing letter to them denouncing the lack of sufficient staffing to handle the number of calls to their phone banks.

sometimes I forget how young you are. To really get a feel for days gone by, leave the combine in the shed. Pick the corn by hand. After you shell the corn off the cob - wala - toilet paper!!!

It is my understanding with a horse drawn wagon 1 man can pick 1 acre of corn by hand, we currently have about 1200 acres of corn I should have it picked by the summer of 2020 if I don't take a day off and the weather permits me.

The ribbon is shot on this old thing and no idea how old it really is, however, I am grateful to my dad who foreseen the value of a computer in my educational environment.. When I went to public school I was leaps and bounds ahead of the other classmates.
